CIA Admits to Waterboarding: A Tactic from the Spanish Inquisition
The CIA admitted today that it used waterboarding on at least three occasions for a purported national security interest. Of course, in spite of the extreme pain and terror it inflicts on the victims, they deny its torture.
However:
- The Constitution clearly and unambiguously bans “cruel and unusual punishment” and waterboarding is both cruel and unusual.
- Over 100 law professors have condemned waterboarding as being torture.
- Former President Carter has stated that waterboarding is torture and a violation of international law.
- 2008 Presidential candidate John McCain has said its torture as well.
- Human Rights Watch has classified it as torture as well.
- Amnesty International has condemned it as torture.
