DoubleSpeak. DoubleSpeak.

Remember back in the day when the Zioneoconservatives at Frontpage Magazine bashed me for calling for Islamic revolutions all accross the world and rejecting the arguments in favor of the legitimacy of Israel?

Here’s an excerpt from their article bashing Sister Salika.

“Realm of Truth (a.k.a. Jinnzaman’s Blog). This blog is run by Abdul Haqq, whose entire interests include “Jihad of the Sword and Heart.” Haqq is not happy with those that “try to define Jihad solely as being defensive,” and he does not recognize Israel as a legitimate state. He writes of a chilling future, when he states, “The victory of HAMAS and the Muslim Brotherhood in elections, the continued persistency of the Taliban in Afghanistan, the formation of an entrenched Iraqi resistance, Muslim protests against Western hegemony… are we finally witnessing the long-awaited Islamic response to imperialism?… Islam is coming up from the underground and it will seize the day.” He also says that he wants the MSA to take “active steps” to “instigate” an “Islamic revolution.””

Well guess what? I’m on the side of the good guys (at least according to them) now!

Why? Because I called for a boycott of Al Maghrib back in the day that lasted a few days.

I guess the logic is, the enemy of my enemy is my friend?

Anyhow, read the original post here.

The summary of their article is as follows:

Beards! Wahhabis! Saudi Arabia! America! Explosions! Durka Durka Mohammad Jihad Ali!

(This whole attempt to pit “Sufis” against “Salafis” is growing tiresome)

They plan and plan, but Allah (SWT) is the best of planners.

May Allah (SWT) (subhana wa ta’ala) expose the plots of the plotters and grant victory to the Ummah. Ameen.

Ya, I remember when I skimmed that new article I was thinking to myself “but.. wasn’t he bashed in my article?”

Anyways, I only skimmed that piece of trash and as much as I am not a fan of al-Maghrib, there was a lot of fallacious and stupid statements made…

Jinnzaman, perhaps you could post a comment on that article at frontpage expressing similar sentiments as mentioned here.

On the progressives, I was somewhat disappointed that you chose to use Umar’s articles again in a fashion that was not consistent with the message he was trying to give. As soon as you start lumping the so-called ’salafis’ with progressives, even for the reasons that you mentioned, it just took away from the other good points that you made. Secondly, progressivism is one area where we all (”traditionalists”, ahl-hadith, any ‘normal’ Muslims) can agree on, and join hands in defeating this menacing nemesis. Recently, I was maligned at Eteraz’s under-cover-pro-regressive blog for just stating facts related to the opinions of the scholars of Muslims (shias and sunnis) concerning Bohris and Qadiyanis; that they were not accepted among the ranks of Muslims by any scholar I know. There was unfortunately no support in this opinion from any of the traditionalists, though I can’t imagine any regular Muslim would disagree with this fact.

In any case, the use of your blog for ulterior motives, and the double-speak by the neocon zionists is nothing new– I feel for you. It just goes to show how careful Muslims need to be when talking about other Muslims in the public arena, esp. about Islamic organizations. No matter how much we disagree with Zaytuna, AlMaghrib, AOU, IAU, AIU, ALIM, CAIR, ISNA, TDC, etc., we have to be careful in what we say, and how we say it, so that someone else doesn’t take it and run with it. I am only a few months into blogging, but trust me, I am learning fast.

Shaykh Faraz Rabbani’s take on the issue:

We should complain against such coverage (though we shouldn’t expect any better from something like FrontPageMagazine). While one may not always agree with al-Maghrib Institute (to say the least), they are sincere fellow Muslims who are striving to do the good as best they can.

We should distinguish between disciplined disagreement–even firm–and playing into the agendas of those at enmity to the mainstream Muslim community.
