Junk inside yo Trunk

Yesterday I went to the mall because I needed to get a haircut. I decided to get a buzz cut because I was tired of dealing with my hair being long. Short hair requires no maintenance. Also, for some reason, I only brought really small kufis with me to my dorm and it feels uncomfortable when my hair is long if I wear those small kufis.

So anyway, when I went to get my haircut, they were having this special book sale. Apparently, they were selling books all throughout the mall for very cheap prices ($.50). When I was in college, our library would have similar sales and I would go and buy their books.

Anyhow, so I went and purchased the following books:
-Autobiography by John Stuart Mill
-The Birth of Tragedy and the Genealogy of Morals by Friedrich Nietzsche
-The Intellectual Tradition of the West
-Walden & Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau
-A bunch of plays by Shakespeare

In anticipation of working on a draft of “The Islamist Papers”, I started skimming through various political treatises I has such as “The Federalist Papers” and “Second Treatise on Government” and some Marxist texts. I’ve concluded that Islamic theories of government are similar to natural rights arguments, but based on an entirely different set of metaphysical presumptions. I’m sort of torn between just focusing on the Islamic theory of government and engaging in a critique of Western theories of government and then discussing the Islamic theory of government. Anyhow, if anyone wants to help, please do so.
