Nota Buene

I have concluded that I am going to need to create a whole new set of terminology, definitions, and concepts in order to properly describe how post-colonial hegemony works. I’ve hitherto relied upon liberal, marxist, and Islamist descriptions of international relations and I have found them all to be inadequate in expressing the conceptual framework I seek to establish.

Here are some terms and concepts I am playing around with, feel free to make any suggestions:

- colonizer, colonized

- developed, developing, underdeveloped

- core, periphery

- hegemonic, subdued, unsubdued

- capitalist, socialist, mixed, Islamic (?)

- dominating, dependent

- pre-modern, anti-modern, post-modern

I advise you to look at the book Madinan Society by Diya Umari (two volumes) look at his notion of terms and the use of terms.

Also, look at categories from Seerah and from the Qur’an.
