The Essence of the Problem of the Ummah

Your striving for what is absolutely guaranteed to you
and your laxness of what is required of you
are evidence that your inner eye is dull

The major problem of our Ummah is not the lack of political power, economic progress, social justice, but spiritual decline. This aphorism indicates the essence of our spiritual state. Many people strive for the dunya thinking that they acquire sustenance, when in reality, this is something that Allah (SWT) (swt) has decreed for us so it is not becoming of the believer to chase and grovel and worry over acquiring the dunya. Instead, they should be concerned with fulfilling their obligations to Allah (SWT) (swt). We will not be judged by our material acquisitions, but by our spiritual progress. If people choose the dunya over the deen, this is a reflection of their state.

People lacking rights and basic standards of living and justice is a cause of concern, but the suffering in this life is nothing compared to the suffering in the akhirah. Yet, people are concerned with the former and not the latter.

May Allah (SWT) (swt) give us astute inner eyes. Ameen.

So true. :-/ This reminds me of an article that i read the other day, about a man who went to read salah in a mosque, which was located right in the middle of a busy street.

There were only 6 men praying there, while during Ramadan especially taraweh prayers it would be full.

When he spoke to the imam about this, the imam said: “I am afraid that these days the mosque is treated like a social club and not what it is intended to be. Some come here to meet their friends and keep up with the gossip. Some want to be seen as religious. Of course, the rest come here for genuine reason to worship but they are in the minority. ”

Ameen to the Dua’s. May Allah (SWT) s.w.t gave all of us Hidaya. Ameen.

    W’salam.

Subhanallah, surprised many people in Baltimore do not know about Masjid al-nur (Carney) with Shaykh Khalil who was a professor of usul al-din in Syria a wonderful teacher and discussion. I just found out not to long ago Masjid Al-Rahmah has tajweed lessons after Fajr (Imam Kabirrudin) and there are only 3-5 people, subhanallah the youth? If only people would just try to attend Fajr in Jamaa’ for a week and see the difference it makes in their spiritual lives. May Allah (SWT) gather the ummah for Fajr prayer in jamaa’.
