Virginia Suhba With Shaykh Nuh Ha Meem Keller
Imam Ghazzali (rahmutallah alayh) wrote in his Ihya Uloom al-Deen:
“A person is at all times effected and surrounded by the diseases of the heart and those things which can lead a person to everlasting destruction in the next world. Therefore it is absolutely necessary for a person to attain so much knowledge concerning these destructive inclinations which he is in need of to save himself thereby. And the removal of these diseases is fardh ain (a mandatory individual duty of every Muslim). But the removal of these diseases is not possible except by recognizing its limits, causes, symptoms, and remedy. For he who has not recognized danger shall fall therein.”
Ibn Khaldun wrote in his Muqaddimah:
“This knowledge is a branch of the sciences of Sacred Law that originated within the Ummah. From the first, the way of such people had also been considered the path of truth and guidance by the early Muslim community and its notables, of the Companions of the Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa sallam), those who were taught by them, and those who came after them.It basically consists of dedication to worship, total dedication to Allah
(subhana wa ta’ala), disregard for the finery and ornament of the world, abstinence from the pleasure, wealth, and prestige sought by most men, and retiring from others to worship alone. This was the general rule among the Companions of the Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the early Muslims, but when involvement in this -worldly things becmse widespread from the second Isalmic century onwards and people became absorbed in worldliness, those devoted to worship came to be called Sufiyya (or People of Tasawwuf).”
Imam al-Haddad wrote in “The Book of Assistance”
“Know that no state can be sound in the presence of neglect, and no wealth useful in the presence of heedlessness. For if you abandon yourself to neglect and purposelessness, as the cattle do, and just do anything that may occur to you at any time it happens to occur to you, most of your time will be wasted. Your time is your life, and your life is your capital; it is the basis of your transactions [with God], and the means to attain everlasting felicity, in the proximity of God the Exalted. Each of your breaths is a priceless jewel, and when it passes away it never returns.”

About the hotel:
I “named my price” at priceline.com ($70/night for a 3 star) and got it at the mark hilton (the normal rate is $139).
If you go 2 star, you can get a hotel in the area for probably less than $40/night.

Assalamu Alaikum Akhi,
Would you happen to have any knowledge of book titles or other references (articles/sites) which would pertain to the various tariqas? I was hoping to read up on most of those which are known to us for my own research and understanding.
Help would be appreciated, Jazakallahu Khayr
Ma’salama

Wa alaikum assalam
Do you mean from a historical perspective? I believe Shaykh Nuh’s translation of Reliance of the Traveller has some information in the appendix.
